Description
Howie Newman, a longtime Melrose resident, and Joe Kessler, also known as Knock on Wood, are playing their sixth annual community fundraiser, an outdoor concert to benefit Pantry of Hope, at the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose, on Sunday, Aug. 2, from 6-7:30 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors at the church.
The concert is free but the proceeds from donations will go to Pantry of Hope, a food pantry run by the First Baptist Church. Partnering with other organizations – such as the Boston Food Bank, The Food Drive and Stop & Shop – Pantry of Hope serves about 100 needy families in the Melrose area each month. This event has raised more than $2,000 the past two years.
