All donations to support the Walk to End Hydrocephalus and the Hydrocephalus Association. Donations of $50 or higher entered for a door prize raffle. https://secure2.convio.net/hydro/site/TR/WALK/General?pg=team&fr_id=2297&team_id=26411 We often get asked if Tai Chi can help with balance. Here are some things to know: • Falling is a major public health risk for older adults age 65 and older. • 1 out of every 4 US adults age 65 and older fall every year, and falling is a leading cause of injuries and death in this group. • The National Council on Aging recommends balance-focused exercise as the primary strategy for fall prevention. • Mind-body movement practices, such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong are appealing for adults. They are low-impact, safe, and combine balance, strength, and flexibility training. • Tai Chi and QiGong offer many health benefits in addition to improved balance. Benefits we have seen with our students include increased flexibility, strength, bone density, and stress relief.
