Event Details
The newly rebranded, Melrose Farmers’ Market (formerly Sally Frank’s Farmers Market) is entering its 25th year, connecting farmers, handmade food producers, artisans, nonprofits and local businesses, entertainers, and educational groups to the Melrose community. The market runs every Thursday from June 7th to October 25th , 2 p.m.-7 p.m., then 2 p.m.-6 p.m. beginning in October. This year the market will feature four Massachusetts’s farms that farm organically, Dick’s Market Garden, Moonlight Farm, Kelly’s Family Farm, and Little Brook Farm. Each week the market will feature fresh, local produce, fresh fish, fine meats, poultry, eggs, maple syrup, honey, granola, pasta, baked goods, and cheese. Shoppers will also be able to purchase locally produced dips, spreads, sweet and savory preserves, teas, salts, soaps, and creative gifts from local artisans. This year market goers can find more prepared food options to take home or eat at the park. MFM has more vegan and allergen-free options than ever before. The family-friendly market has an average of 800-1200 visitors per week. So everyone has access to healthy foods, the market matches SNAP up to $10 and features three HIP certified farms. Shoppers can enjoy live music from 3:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. Twice a month there is a cooking demonstration from 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m. The market also holds fun, family activities such as, Animal Craze, Ask a Master Gardener, Bike Day, Get Moving Day, Dog Days of Summer, Get Grilling, Family Day, Senior Day, and Yoga in the Park for kids and adults. Young visitors are invited to join Club Sprouts, where they answer a clue of the day, taste the featured fruit or vegetable and earn a stamp in their Club Sprouts passport. Five stamps earns a prize. Established this year is the opportunity to support the Melrose Farmers’ Market by becoming a Friend of the Market (FOM). Friend levels are $25, $50 and $100. Contributions help support our SNAP match program and various activities at the market. And for the first time the market is running a Farm-to-Fork fundraiser generously hosted at Mt Hood on September 15, 2018. All the food is from the market’s farms and food vendors prepared at Mt. Hood. The market is held outdoors in Bowden Park at the junction of W. Emerson, and Vinton Streets, adjacent to the Cedar Park Commuter Rail stop. Walking, strolling, and biking is strongly encouraged. Parking available around the park. For further information or to volunteer, visit Melrose Farmers’ Market at https://melrosefarmersmarket.org
